Missing airports

Postby Ivan-Pekar » Sat Oct 13, 2018 7:31 pm

Hello,
I downloaded scenery from the official FlightGear Scenery download, and when I fly to a certain airport (e.g. UIKB), there is no scenery. In the attached video, you can see that the airport is in my scenery directory. I checked in Internal Properties that the correct directory is being used, and likewise in FG Start-Up. Please see link below:

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks,
Ivan

You seem to be missing the terrain files so it defaults to just an ocean tile.

Here's the tile that you need:
Terrain/e110n50/e114n57

You have several options for downloading it:
Enable TerraSync via the launcher.

You could also use TerraMaster or TerraSync.py to download it.

It isn't missing, because I downloaded already the exact tile from the link you provided maybe two or three months ago. All other airports in that tile (e110n50) work.
What is TerraMaster? How do I use it? I also don't quite understand what TerraSync is. What is the difference between TerraSync and normal, standard scenery?

Thanks,
Ivan

terrasync is two things... in the sim, it is the portion that downloads the scenery tiles on-the-fly and installs them as you fly along... terrasync.py is a command line python script you can use to manage your scenery... TerraMaster is a java app that provides a GUI and allows you to manage your scenery... you would use one of these last two if you don't want to use the in-sim downloader... the standard scenery is distributed by default via the in-sim terrasync method otherwise all you get is ocean tiles of water outside of the default tiles shipped with the sim...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

in the launcher on the settings page, turn on "Scenery Download" and make sure you have a good internet connection...

Yes, I have done that, yet the issue is still present.
