Genapts failure on EIDW

Hi,
I was running genapts850 on EIDW (apt.dat: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g1c0qufc8mvxmhi/apt.dat?dl=0) using the commands:

genapts850 --input=apt.dat --work=work --airport=EIDW --log-level=info


(I removed the --airport= part when I generated all of Ireland, but I tried to regenerate only EIDW to another directory when I saw that it had failed, when I loaded at EIDW in FlightGear, the airport was completely missing!)

It seems to simply fail silently?

I only get folder AirportArea - which is empty - no AirportObj.

Does your apt.dat end with a "99" record?

Find the last thing it was processing before it crashed...

From my own experience the process can be very long AND appears complete where it's not.

For Example, using the GUI, I get the progress bar complete in under 2 minutes but the process still runs in the background (I can see it from my Windows Task Manager showing GENAPTS still running and sucking up 100% or my resources),

Similarly to your experience AirportArea is generated pretty quickly BUT it takes another 2 hours or so for the Airport Object ito actually show up. I notice you can speed things up by using less elements in WED. For example all of my Yellow centre lines are made of only 5 distinct elements (To do that you will eventually have more than one line between two nodes have you 'move back' to trace the next line but this has no impact on the final result AND WED allows you to make some lines transparent.

In two words, be patient. Maybe get GENAPS tio run overnight and see if you collect an airport the next morning.

Genapts simply stops working - it is no longer runnng in the task manager (and with --airport removed, continues on to the next airport). In the cmd window, it is waiting for the next prompt (flashing cursor after >)

@legoboyvdlp have you tried editing the apt.dat file (even line by line) or try another airport and see if it is successful?
What I am getting at is the question, is it just this one airport that is causing a problem? If so, I have had to edit a line or two out of an apt.dat file to get past a portion that the compiler didn't like.

It looks as if this was saved by WED in a format that is too new.
When I open with WED it looks OK, but I can notsave the apt.dat in an old format, getting messages such as:-

Error: ATC Taxi Routes are only supported in X-plane 10 and newer.
Error: Ramp starts with specific traffic and types are only supported in X-plane 10 and newer.

Try removing these and saving the apt.dat as an older version.

Perhaps the other airports do not have "ATC Taxi Routes" and "Ramp starts with specific traffic and types", and any other unsupported WED 8.50 features. ?

I'll check but I know for a fact one of them does (since I made the ATC network myself) and that airport was generated fine.

I'll try simplifying the layout.

TerraGear will load an apt.dat up to version 1100, but it does nothing with those newer features.

A couple of ideas to try:
Create a EIDW.dat file containing only EIDW. Any change?
Load your dat file into WED to confirm the file is valid.
Remove the items at the point that the process stops to see if it then runs to completion. Then add items back slowly until you identify the item it does not like. Maybe there is a bug in the loader.

That's what I am getting at, I have had airports fail because of a line or two that when removed fixed the issue. I was never able to determine why though.
