TerraSync system question

Postby dilbert » Sat May 05, 2018 1:32 pm

Please pardon my ignorance.
The TerraSync folder has both "Objects" and "Terrain" as sub folders. The files within these sub folders have identical labels. Assuming the files in these two sub folders are identical, why are redundant sub folders (Objects & Terrain)
necessary ?

The /Terrain folder contains the files describing just the terrain mesh (the earth surface that is not ocean)
The /Objects folder contains the positions of 3d scenery objects and the 3d models themselves (buildings, bridges etc. - unless they are shared models, they live in /Models)
If you removed the /Objects folder, you would only see the bare surface of the earth. Removing the /Terrain folder would result in an earth covered entirely by water and 3d models floating around somewhere.

Hope this helps to explain this a bit.
