UFO not showing all models?

Postby benih » Thu Mar 29, 2018 4:47 pm

Hello,
im currently trying to get into scenery editing using the ufo. I noticed that in the model selection window, i do not see a models proposed at the scenery map editor.
I am running on debian linux if this is of relevance.

For example, all of communications category is missing, but the models are there for sure (they show up correctly if placed in the web map).
What can i do?

Usually the problem is that the models are inside your terrasync directory (e.g. /home/user/.fgfs/TerraSync/Models on a linux comp), but the ufo only shows model present in the fgdata directory (e.g. /usr/share/games/flightgear/Models), so you might just want to copy the models from the terrasync directory to the FGDATA directory :)

wouldn't it be easier to modify the UFO so that it looks for the Models in the new location... unless i'm mistaken, the old location is abandoned and deprecated but may still have a few models that weren't moved for various reasons... those that i'm aware of are simply unused models...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Thanky for the hints;
adding the following made the models available:
Code: Select all
--prop:source=../../../../var/cache/fgfs/TerraSync/Models/

The only "problem" with this is, that the model path gets long and crowded, and also that the path shows up in the exported file.
Using a symlink named "TSM" makes this much less trouble.
Code: Select all
--prop:source=TSM

Type "l" (L low) and you can browse all locations from the system.
Have a look in "Aircraft Help"

I know "L" but was not able to select a whole subtree structure.
