KEWR scenery

Postby zbot473 » Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:41 am

I have a SketchUp file for the airport. I converted it to a .3ds file and then imported it into ac3d, and then saved it to a .ac file. When I import it into FlightGear using the UFO, it comes out huge, like floating above NYC like the ship from Independence Day. How do I fix this?

You would need to scale it. One blender / ac3D unit equals one meter in FlightGear.

If you use the custom made exporters from .Skp to .ac the export should stay the same size as your model.

Exporters are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wu7mwl2ywjk5 ... 7Wb8a?dl=0

I used the custom-made exporter, but the textures don't export. How would I fix that?

If you create a model in Sketchup and use textures a.png, b.png, c.png - the .ac exporter will reference the textures in the text of the .ac file, but not export them to the desired directory. All you need to do is move the textures you loaded into Sketchup into the directory with the output .ac file and it should work properly.

@statto: move or copy? ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

There is a possibility that you are confusing textures with colours.

If you've only used colours from the SketchUp paint box there will not be any separate textures exported. In SketchUp you must only use the 'Named Colours' page of the paint box because all the other pages are copyrighted by Google/Trimble.

The only time textures are exported with the .ac file is when you make your own, or import a texture from elsewhere. The normal colours are coded into the materials section of the .ac file.

Thanks. I'll try that.
