LFPG New Terrain and Terminals

Postby BecOzIcan » Tue Jul 18, 2017 4:41 am

Hi all,

Making my LFPG POC available for enjoyment and feedback. This is mostly WIP which has been going on for the past 2 years (I only recently managed to get the Terragear workflow to work on my Windows machine)

Not fully GPL so won't be uploaded to Terrasync at this point as I would have a bunch of textures to redo and my focus remains on AI

Latest Version (13MAR2020) Download Link : UPDATED

Includes
- Revamped terrain with OSM Roads / Rail (Freeway, Primary, Secondary only, for performance) .
- Redesigned Buildings (Passenger Terminals, Hotels, FedEx facilities etc)
- Revamped WED layout with ParkPos and Service Marking as well as the Helipad
- Bridges and Tunnels where Elevation Data allows a nice effect.
- Fully functional groundnet and RWYUSE with both Take off and Landing working
- Local apt.dat

Does NOT include (TODO List)
- Regional Terminal 2G
- Cargo Area Buildings
- Jetwways & Lamp Posts

Issues encountered / Tips welcome
- I have 3 control towers declared in my local APT.DAT but tower view gives me only one. Any way to be able to switch between towers live (typing v)
- I have an Helipad declared in my local APT.DAT but it is not listed in starting positions (next to runways)

Cheers
Ian

Just been playing around with this, excellent work, it's nice to see correctly parked AI aircraft and no irrelevant static aircraft stacked on the AI parking positions. :D

Hahaha. My first FG experience back in 2011 was traumatic. taxiing at LFPG my plane kept on bumping into and over crates, service vehicles etc. I never made it to the runway and decided that day that Static(s) will never be part of any of my sceneries.

Glad you guys like it. Will post update to this thread if I make major improvements (Buildings, Jetways) but again it could take some time, I prefer producing traffic files and new AI models

Cheers
Ian

This looks amazing - personally even if you had to replace some textures with placeholders to make it GPL, I'd plead with you to do that, much better than what we current have at CDG!

No problem, will look into that but I will need the terrain submitted as well I guess (not sure how to do that). Textures first !

Does anybody know why the objects fail to appear in 2019.1.2?

Probably the same reason many objects didn't appear in my 2019.2.0 version. The Objects Models files included with the download is lacking.
I added these Object Model files from these links.
http://flightgear.sourceforge.net/scenery/Models/
https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-TERRAGIT/terraGIT

Edit: Or the custom models he created didn't end up in the right folder.

Only the static objects are failing to appear. It worked in previous versions like 2018.3 but not in 2019.2

I haven't checked his work at that airport. Are you talking about the OBJECT_STATIC models?
If so, are they in the folder with that file?

I know the OBJECT_STATIC models work. I've already had my butt chewed for using them unless it is unique to that airport.

Yes. Eample:

OBJECT_STATIC LFPG_T2A.xml 2.56730302 49.00380759 102 94.5
OBJECT_STATIC LFPG_T2B.xml 2.56730302 49.00380759 102 94.5
OBJECT_STATIC LFPG_T2C.xml 2.56730302 49.00380759 102 94.5

I looked at other areas like Beijing and all the OBJECT_STATIC buildings are still showing up but in Sydney the opera house is no longer showing up

OK, in the same folder as that text file, all those xml files should exist.

Edit: If not, that would be a fault of the person who constructed the scenery, not FlightGear.
If so, there may be a failure of the xml code.

I don't think it's the fault of the creator because this scenery worked in earlier Flightgear versions. I normally put the scenery into Terrasync
