Using both SRTM-1 and SRTM-3

Postby david.megginson » Wed Jan 04, 2017 4:55 pm

I'm working on w080n40, which includes large areas of both the US and Canada. Is tg-construct smart enough to build the chunk using both SRTM-1 and SRTM-3, switching on a tile-by-tile basis?

(I ask because Manhattan is a mess with SRTM-3, full of "hills" that are actually detected buildings.)

You may want to try http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/dem3.html. I'm pretty sure this is what the default FG scenery build uses for elevation data.

Thanks. Do you know which of the sources has had the most cleaning (removing buildings, etc)?

Sorry, not for sure. But it looks like the only appropriate data for seamless world coverage is the 3" at http://viewfinderpanoramas.org/Coverage ... s_org3.htm. I think there are many different links to some of the unfiltered source data which is what your currently using such as SRTM 1 and 3.
