Hey,
this sounds good.

Have you completed it despite your slow machine??

Although not a real scenery contribution, I'm about to do some AI Traffic for the Canaries. I completed major TUIFLY connections from Germany to the Canaries,
and when the AI ATR72 is published, I'll start to paint them for Binter and Canaryfly, as well as setting up the according traffic files.
Maybe I'll add the Condor - Schedule (GER- Canaries) as well, if I'll find time.

By the way, I still have the issue with the osm2city buildings, now they don't show up at all.

Could someone help me fixing this??

Unfortunately not, as noted tg-construct crashed after 2 days with a memory overrun.

Hello folks,

now I fortunately found some time to develop AI traffic...

Binter and Canaryfly now have ATR72-500 liveries, and the first Canaryfly aircraft schedule is complete;
EC-GQF now flies 15 flights per day, serving GCFV;-RR;-LP. The schedule is 90% realistic from Flightradar, the missing data was received from a friend of mine, and is at least plausible...

Thank you for the praise;
I have finished the schedules for the entire Canaryfly fleet, but I'm stuck at the moment...
I can't get my traffic file working, and can't debug it...
I've posted this issue in another thread, but if you or anyone else here can help me, this would be highly appreciated!!!

If you spot the mistake, please tell me and correct it...

As I said, I've the rest of Canaryfly's schedule on my hands, waiting to correct the false traffic list and then type the other ~ 60 flights in...

After THAT, I focus on BINTER...

Issue fixed - continuing with Canaryfly... (Those little birds look reeeally good...)

While working on the AI traffic, I've found a freeware fotoreal scenery for the Canary Islands on the web...
Well, it's for FSX, but maybe it is possible for some talented scenery developer ( D-ECHO this could be something for you, but everyone, feel free to have a go...) to get the satellite imagery separated, and include it into the scenery...

This is what the description says, I think a spanish/ Canario did this... (This is only the FUE scenery)

"This fotoreal scenery of Fuerteventura contains the following files: (...) The geographical data was obtained from the Spanish National Geographical Institute.
It contains the geographically referenced satellite imagery, from the Canarian regional Government, which is PUBLIC AND FREE !!
The resolution of the imagery is 1m/pixel, compressed to 85%
It has neither night textures nor seasonal changes within the imagery..."

http://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/68/703

If you maybe can take a look at it, and maybe toy around with it to get the imagery work in FG, that would be very very very nice....

Kind regards

This is definetely amazing. However, two points come to my mind when looking at this:
1. FlightGear usually does NOT use photo-texturing, this is only done when using OSGEarth (I have no clue of either installing OSGE or creating scenery for it
2. FSX file format is not really similar to what fg uses, I don't know if there is any possibiltiy to port this.

However it may be possible to use these textures for regional texturing (?) :D
Thanks for posting this.

Yes it is amazing...
I know that FG is more about creating a "plausible scenery", instead of a photorealistic one. But, if you've ever looked at the "Brest Photoreal Scenery" in FG, you definitely have to state that the ground itself looks better...

There is a possibility to port FSX scenery to FGFS by first converting it to Plane format using FS2Plane...
Then, it should be possible to convert it further to FGFS...
If this doesn't work, maybe we find the source where the satellite imagery is from...
I think this would add a whole new level of detail by saving us some time as well.
We could never set up that much textures and details by hands, as the given imagery provides.
My idea would be to divide the satellite images into different, really specific landclasses. Let me line that out by taking some examples from Fuerteventura.
- The rural parts of the islands, where no buildings need to be modeled, can consist of large land classes, specified for Fuerteventura itself. We need to
determine what vegetation to apply, and texture the ground, of course, with the imagery. By this we could get a landclass specified for the just that island or
even just that part of the island.
- Cities or urban areas: In my opinion, the highest level of detail can be achieved by making every city a unique landclass. For the first instance, we can use the
normal, auto generated buildings to appear there. I don't quite know if it is possible to build 3d objects automatically out of satellite imagery.
I only know about osm2city, but sadly, most of the buildings at the canaries are not shown. Only the major things, like hotels. But maybe it's possible to get
some 3d models out of the images, having the exact positions and density as well.
- Streets and highways: By having satellite imagery, we could build better roads, and maybe even fill them with traffic... (D-ECHO, we mailed about this
once, you remember??)

This would be my first ideas for some photoreal scenery, however, they're just ideas...

"There is a possibility to port FSX scenery to FGFS by first converting it to Plane format using FS2Plane..." Well, just object coordinates need to be converted. If you have your custom 3d work made previously for FSX, the objects need to convert directly to .AC format and place it manually with the UFO or try to export your scenery to Xplane and then to FG.

Ages ago I did in fact convert MSFS/X-Plane scenery to FG, which went fine.

http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Conver ... om_X-Plane

About a year ago I started updating the old scripts, moving them to python and extending functionality. But then came RL duties... anyway, the current state -- which lacks docs, unfortunately -- is on gitlab
