OMDB & OMDW

Postby pommesschranke » Mon Dec 07, 2015 10:48 pm

I'm working on OMDB (layout & terrain)
OSM coastlines are pretty cool:

the airport on the screenshots is OMDW.

The airport code is OMG.

And the strategic effort investment will satisfy that this airport will be one of the most visited airport for the next months-years-age, as soon it will be available in FG.

Many thanks

Did you just map default terrain as desert? Martin was working on using OSM coastlines worldwide for a while - trying to 'fill in' the coastline with nearby landclass.
8.50 airport parser, textured roads and streams...

We actually already had custom scenery for Dubai. See viewtopic.php?p=87090#p87090 The landclasses were merged in the mapserver shapefiles way back.

I use the global "land-polygons" shapefile:

http://openstreetmapdata.com/data/land-polygons
http://data.openstreetmapdata.com/land- ... t-4326.zip (397MB)

and mapped it to "Sand"

Is the DBX Terminal supposed to be in this link? Also the city Skyline is no longer in the background. The AI planes are now at the airport and the runway and taxiways are also more detailed. But hat have I done wrong now that I don't see the city? Ive downloaded the optional links also for buildings but they're just in the original OMDB folder, anything else I need to do?

Installation:

1. Download the .zip.
2. Make a folder in the folder downloaded called "Objects"
3. Copy Objects/e050n20/ from "TerraSync"
4. Add "OMDB-fg-CustomScenery in FGRUN to the list of sceneries -- at the top.
5. Add the folders inside -- Project 3000 and OSM2CITY as extra sceneriy paths to FGRUN, above OMDB-fg-CustomScenery.

Y'know, reading the README might help!

not really, just white blocks.
Forum user "John Taillor" did model and texture it in 2014. but I cannot find it anywhere and he did not reply to my mail.
That is a pity. :(
I know someone who is doing the tower in blender. I hope he will upload it soon.

see for John's Terminal:

Actually I did read the readme and it didn't say create a folder called "Objects", all it said was put the terrasync "objects" folder in the OMDB Folder. Now I have to undo what I did to get it right, no biggie...And the adding the Project 3000 and OSM City to the FGRUN path wasn't there, got it now.. Man, if there could be one consistent set of concise instructions in one place that would be awesome. Thanks for your help as always!

No problem!
And also...
fgfs --fg-scenery=/scenery/OMDB-fg-CustomScenery
--fg-scenery=/scenery/OMDB-fg-CustomScenery/osm2city
--fg-scenery=/scenery/OMDB-fg-CustomScenery

Is the same as adding it to FGRUN.
