Could I get this file commited to terrasync?

Postby Necolatis » Mon Nov 23, 2015 10:24 pm

The file in question is:

Airports/K/N/U/KNUQ.twr.xml

This is the content:

Code: Select all
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='ISO-8859-1'?>
<PropertyList>
  <tower>
    <twr>
      <lon>-122.053924</lon>
      <lat>37.412767</lat>
      <elev-m>90.00</elev-m>
    </twr>
  </tower>
</PropertyList>

The reason is that the tower was so low that it was embedded inside a building and could not be used a a viewport.

Hi Necolatis,

The correct way to solve the problem would be to use the mapserver over the airport, then zoom in until the red dots change into arrowheads.
Click on the appropriate object's arrowhead.

You then get the option to update that object. Just add the required offset and submit to the TerraSync system using that update form.

HTH

Vic:
He is writing about a "view" position, not a 3D object.

my suggestion:
depricate all .twr.xml files and read all tower viewpoints from apt.dat

if you know any scripting language you can read apt.dat and create all .twr.xml files from it
(as a workaround until Flightgear is able to read that information directly from apt.dat)
It is the same story with the parking locations ( .groundnet.xml)

From what I read, I assumed the problem was a scenery object at the wrong height. If that's not the case my method will not work.

Is it still the case that no-one knows how to get these files into terrasync:

xxxx.groundnet.xml
xxxx.twr.xml

So parking and tower positions can not be updated until next scenery build? Is that the conclusion?
I mean its literally just a couple of small xml files..whats the barrier?

Torsten maintains TerraSync. When you have updated files, please submit a request to him via the dev mailing list.

FYI... A new solution to make this a self-service process has recently been started.
