KSAC covered by residential area

Postby PH-JAKE » Tue Dec 23, 2014 11:40 pm

Hi,

When looking with the UFO at various airports I was puzzeled I couldn't find the airport shown on the map.
Taking advantage of the UFO's capability to fly below ground showed the airport elements were there, just covered by a residential area.

Image

This is a shallow view, showing the airport layout partly covered. This gets worse when you climb.
Anything going on here?

whenever you see anything on top of an airport, it's because of a problem with terragear clipping out the airport hole. a tile#.btg geometry should never cover the ICAO.btg geometry. But there was an issue in terragear during ws2.0 generation where sometimes, the hole wasn't cut out.

So, actually it was terragear NOT clipping out the airport hole.
I understand the "tile#.btg geometry should never cover the ICAO.btg geometry" bit, but what was the ws2.0 generation you mention?
And now that we know of this, is there anything we can do about that, to improve this situation?

ws 2.0 = world scenery 2.0 :)

The issue with terragear has been fixed. Martin generated the base package (KSFO area) with the fixed Toolchain. You shouldn't see issues around there.

Next world scenery will fix the rest of them.

We haven't finalized a hosting solution for the next build however. We are out of space on googlecode.

Git currently does not allow checking out only part of a project (the scenery, in this case). A better solution could be contacting some sites offering mirrors to open source projects (e.g. the GARR Mirror Service in Italy). Still, we would need a server to host the master repository.
