I can get you photos of High rises around me but they are completely different to the Buildings that are in Kai Tak

That'd be much appreciated. Try to get good quality, high-resolution images, i.e., use a good camera -- most digital cameras would do. Avoid mobile phones. Only use a mobile phone's camera if everything else fails. Shoot orthogonal, on an overcast day. Did I mention mobile phones will probably produce crappy pictures?

Ideally, take photos like that
Image,
i.e. with a 90 degree angle between the camera axis and the facade. I know that's not always possible.

Thanks to solve the question. you can always fix the angle by turning the picture with GIMP as an alternative (or another prho editing software).

Of course. It's just easier if you don't have to. Plus, if you shoot at an angle, you'll capture side faces (for example, the side faces of balconies) that wouldn't be visible in frontal view and may look a bit odd -- and it's very hard to correct for that in Gimp. But then again, you'll hardly notice that from the cockpit.

PS. I've made 20+ facade textures from own photos and wrote the wiki page ;)

In essence with the camera back parallel to the building facade. Probably not that easy to accomplish with high rise buildings.

At the other hand, there is some free, open source tools like for example Hugin, that allow making perfect (vertical) panoramas, that can even be geometrically corrected to become more or less orthogonal (as per the example image above).

Ah, that reminds me of one thing: this scenery will require quite a bit of VRAM. I'm lucky enough to have 2GB, 512MB of which seem to be in use with that scenery. If you have less than 512MB you might want to rescale the VHXXmap*.pngs to 1024 or 512px; but then I reckon your GPU might be too weak anyway...

I'd say 'Find out!' if I didn't know your system's specs ;) Yes, it is. If you get rid of all the VHXX{map, city, road}????.* in the .stg, you should still be able to fly there, though. That'll give you the curved lead-in lights, terminal, and the Checkerboard hill. If that works, you may try to keep the VHXX*0101.*, that's the airport's area.
