Hello everybody,

I would like to announce Project Hong Kong in which I plan to rebuilt the Hong Kong area which includes

1.Fixing the coastline and elevations of the city
2.Moving Existing models to their correct positions
3.adding better textures to existing models
4.Remodeling the bad models
5.Creating new models for VHHH,VHXX and VHSK.
6.building the Victoria Harbour Skyline
7.Building an accurate approach and lighting systems for Kai Tak
8.Restructuring the terrain
9.Building models for towns near the Airport
10.Other Details

But there is one problem I cant do all this all alone I need help and I don't know how to model but I can get accurate photos for reference since I live In Hong Kong

Kai Tak has been on my TODO list for ages! I'm willing to help, provided you do your share.

1. We need to get the land cover right. Currently it is offset (and coarse),

but OSM has good data. I suggest you find Terragear experts that are willing to generate terrain, or read up on how to do this yourself.

2. The quickest way to get some more scenery objects for VHXX is osm2city. OSM has some buildings, but I lack apropriate textures. Since you live in Hong Kong, it'd be great if you could take photos. Lots of them. Or search the net and ask for permission to release as GPL. Then extract textures from them. 3. I also have converted MSFS (or X-Plane) scenery, which includes the checkerboard hill and the sports complex. I could try to dig that up and ask the original author for permission.

4. Some time ago I made the curved lead-in lights. A night approach to VHXX using them is pretty awesome!

5. I also have the (once) freeware 9 dragons scenery sitting around somewhere. I never got around to even unzip the archives though. I'm quite confident that could be converted to FG. You could try and contact 9 dragons and ask for permission to release a converted FG version under the GPL.

If you are willing to go forward with that, create a gitorious repository or a shared dropbox folder and probably also a wiki page, and I'll upload the GPL'd stuff I've got so far.

There's better Hong Kong land cover, but it needs to be merged back into the scenery.

It's not available, and it's just landcover. It has to be merged into our global landcover before anything can be generated.

Developing Kai Tak and developing Hong Kong are different projects? The landcover info given in this thread is not relevant to Hong Kong?

I also want to develop VHHH and VHSK making it more like we are covering all of Hong Kong
