Sharing airport layouts

Postby Gijs » Sun Jul 13, 2014 12:07 pm

From the X-Plane blog:
Please do not send any more airport updates to Robin; the gateway will go into beta soon, and we’d like to use it to collect all future changes. (You can only imagine how much work it was for Robin to gather up 750 airports by hand! We imported them into the gateway ourselves to test the gateway and get control of the process.)

You can read more about the gateway in this blog: http://developer.x-plane.com/2013/12/ai ... -airports/

This is definitively worth mentioning in the upcoming newsletter and on the relevant wiki pages.
Low-level flying — It's all fun and games till someone looses an engine. (Paraphrased from a YouTube video)
Improving the Dassault Mirage F1 (Wiki, Forum, GitLab. Work in slow progress)

Yes, but I'll wait for now, as they might even open the gateway before our newletter deadline ;-)

Looks like the airport gateway will go live next week!

WED 1.3 and the X-Plane Airport Gateway should debut in the next week I think – I’m cutting an RC now.

And there it is! We've yet to see how this will affect FlightGear updates, but as long as we can still get a .dat file every now and then all should be fine. Until then I'd suggest not to send any updates to the gateway, as we don't know where they'll end up.

Hello FGFS user
Hello Gijs,

The time has come
http://gateway.x-plane.com
is started.

If the FlightGear scenery benefit from that?
I upload yesterday the shape of EDFH in the gateway.x-plane.com with World Editor 131r1.
Registered as artist DABBA.Hope that the future FGFS scenery will benefit thereof.

Best wishes

See my previous post in this topic ;-)
We do have a confirmation now that we will get access to the layouts (for use in our scenery), but we don't have that access yet.

Antonov An-24B. Made from scratch. Very good FDM. 3D model by Adrian. WIP.

You cannot get a global apt.dat. You can only download individual airports. X-Plane users are serviced through updates, for FlightGear we're trying to arrange something, like I indicated above.

Please, Gijs, keep us informed about the arrangements to get access to a global apt.dat. I'm not going to collaborate with Laminar if they are keeping the data for themselves and limit access to airports individually.

Sure, that's why I suggested not to submit anything for the time being. I'm still optimistic that we'll get access though.

hej Gijs,
do you trying to talk about navaids too? I mean the fix or nav files. I read we can still send new data to Robin.
It also remains to be seen?
Thanks

As far as I know anything other than apt.dat data is still handled by Robin. It is not part of the airport gateway (yet).

Yes, I know. This means that we will continue get access to the navaids files? Only Data from Laminar Research is unclear?
