Yes. It's the Commander 500. Nice plane. Adjusted the position of the headset a bit.

But we need eye-candy buildings like this on FG, maybe we can make an option on FG-Menu for activate/desactivate custom buildings and scenery?! (based on a list maybe) I think that is more viable than manually download. Sowieso vielen Dank!!!

Hello,

I was asked to show my progress a bit more often. Normally I wait until something for the Tempelhof scenery is finished.
So here a part of the new stuff I'm working on. Some may have seen some of it already in the media forum, but here are a few fresh pics of today.
Mostly of the approach-lights for runway 09R are modeled. As you can see I started the texturing, which normally is the most time consuming part.
Also I have to do some fine tuning. So there is no download today. But I hope I can finish it during the next week.

Have a look (click to enlarge):

Hope you like it.

Enjoy!

How heavy is it on FPS? As in what is your PC like, to see what mine should be like. And is it compatible with the old (non-terrasync) scenery??

Hello,

you can see the frame rate in the lower right corner if you enlarge the pics.
Between 20 -36 fps. But thats unoptimized stuff at the moment. So may be slightly better in the end.

My specs are:
MacOS X 10.6.8
MacPro 3,2 GHz Quad-Core Xeon
16 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5870
1 GB VRAM

This is the old scenery with an 2.0 FG. New scenery and new FG I got around 6/7 fps. Unusable! With FG 2.10, at least at the Mac, came a substantial breakdown in fps. All versions before where about the same. Unfortunaltely you can't run the new scenery with an old FG (That could be around 20 fps if possible?). If I run the new stuff with an empty scenery it's 9 fps. So all the models cost me 2 fps on my system. When I offer a download you can decide yourself if your machine is fast enough. I finished the approach-light for the 27L a while ago and they don't have am noticeable impact on the frame rate here.
It should be compatible with the new scenery, but you may have to adjust the high if there are differences.

A simple question, i ain't a graphic designer, are you using .png or .dds files? Could you have an improvement of fps?
Thank you

P.S.: on my system i get the same.

Thank you for your suggestion.
I use PNGs since DDS don't run with the Mac version.
But if the difference without objects (bare terrain) and with buildings is only about 2 fps I guess even DDS won't do so much.

Anyway with my setup I found it fully useable here. At the moment the only thing that sometimes creates a short pause around 1 sec. is if the main building is getting into sight. This isn't finished and needs a lot of optimizing before can be released.
Since I work on several parts of the Tempelhof scenery parallel nearly all you see is not speed-optimized and there lots of huge textures up to 24 MB that will be reduced in the final version to a few hundred K or are only here during development.
You can see in this video that it runs quite smoothly (OK depends on the internet connection as well;-)

OK — 13 at Tegel isn't fun at all.
Just made a quick comparison here. Random plane Pa 100: Tegel 50, THF 24.
Old FG & old scenery.
Maybe you can try an older FG version?
But when I offer a download you can try and drop it if you can't run it.
Even my machine is to slow for the actual FG.
It's not the EDDI scenery. In all crowded areas I only got aroud 7 fps (London, Paris even worse 3/4!) with the new FG and the new scenery.

Had the hope, the new scenery give the opportunity for some new challenge:

But unfortunately I got stuck all the time, even if don't touch a pylon. Seems like there is a invisible protector shield around objects in FG.
Can the distance for the collision detection be edited somewhere? Don't want the set Hot to flase. In case of ermergency you have to able to land on that bridge
