You don't have to put it in, if you don't want to. It's just more of an easter egg (most probably even just for me) anyway.

I think, it would be nice to have some easter eggs. Having a something in mind. Simply haven't had the time to put it in. Maybe at eastern?

So what is going on in the Tempelhof scenery? It took quite some time since my last post, but that doesn't mean, that there is no progress. Now it went more into detail work. Doing textures is quite time consumptive. A lot of work has been done on the main building. But it's still a long way to go. Here some impressions:

Image
Now the Berlin-Tempelhof headline is modeled.

Image
First lights appear.

Image
The hangar doors in the west are done.

Image
Building element A2-Quer is nearly finished.

Image
So is A1-Quer.
Image
EDDI now has a working clock.

Image
Now there are signs to guide you.

Need first aid?

Watch your speed. 20 km/h only!

Bye, bye.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the applause. :D

I missed the most important information. The improved EDDI 850 layout (some of you may remember http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15378&start=15#p164652) was send to Robin Peel at 3. January. Unfortunately I haven d received an answer till now and the older incorrect layout is still on the mapserver. I marked it at the improved airport wiki page as send in, but version online isn't the right one. The current one is way to small as you can see here: http://mapserver.flightgear.org/map/?lon=13.40368&lat=52.47302&zoom=15&layers=000B0000000FTFFTFFTFFFFFFF
So when a new scenery is to be build I will gladly offer my more complete and corrected version for it, if the mapserver wasn't updated in time. Just contact me via PM.

Hello,

RL is keeping me away from FG over months. So the progress slowed down a bit, but doesn't stop.
First a good news: my EDDI 850 layout has made it in the X-Plane DB a few months ago. So there is a real chance that it will make it into the next scenery release. I hope everything will fit together then, since I have no opportunity to test this before.
Today I offer you some new stuff.

Since it still will take some time to finish the EDDI main building, I continued my work on the surrounding area and finished a building located at the 27L approach for you. The Carl-Legien-Oberschule. It was build 1914 as a school for civil engineers and is already available via TerraSync.
Here some impressions (click to enlarge):

Ingenieurschule für Bauwesen

Come in at 27L.
Image
There are some parts that are hidden underneath the current terrain at the moment.
Image
The hidden parts can be seen here. Hope the will appear, when we get a better scenery in the future.
Image
There is light in the caretakers flat.

Now back to the Berlin-Tempelhof airport main building.
Image

Image
Finished the airport beacon.
Image
It's animated at night.

Image
Also some progress at the apron.
Image
The staircases now are in place and textured.
Image
So far for now.

Enjoy!

Hi all,

thanks for the thanks!

Today a small but important improvement.
Image
The former gate 7 at the east-side near runway 27L was a serious security leak. :!:
Image
Now it has been replaced with this much more reliable and resistant solution.
Image
So the airport security is significantly improved now.
Image
In case of emergency this crash-gate could be opened so that the crash tender and the firefighters can pass through.

Enjoy!

Hi,
At EDDI with TS data, I get 21 to 32 fps, using a nearly 4 year-old notebook Core 2 Duo @2.13 GHz, 4 Gb RAM, GPU is a GeForce GT 230M.
Random vegetation is 0.8, no random buildings, ALS On.
Same settings at LFPG but with CLC Landcover+850 data, I get 15 fps after a few tens of seconds waiting for memory loading to stabilize.
Both sceneries is flyable with my configuration which is by no way a gamer config.
For LFPG, there surely are improvements to look after, as the import from XPlane was made without looking too much after the performance issue I believe. So the vertices counts must be pretty high, and some models could be simplified without loosing in realism.

I get 11-30 fps (GTX650TI, ubuntu 12.04). Pretty flyable to me.

Sounds like you want me to go on.

So back to Tempelhof
Image

Just added the EDDI plant nursery to the repository.
Image
Don't ask me what it was for.
Image
The signboard on the door tells that they don't sell flowers (click to enlarge).
Image

There is also some progress at the main building. Finished allot of the textures. But theres still some work to do...
Image
Now the noticeable entrance hall got it's characteristic look.
Image
And especially for Bjoern
Image
Unfortunately this is halfway buried in the scenery. Let's see what the new one will bring.

Things to come:
Image
Working again on the surrounding.
Wonder if I should put the trees online? Thing I read somewhere that this acceptable for airports. Made a test on very old and slow iMac and leaving them out or in doesn't make a difference in fps there.

Enjoy!

Yes you can (for the trees) as long as you do not place them in .ac or on places where there are sensed being automagically generated.
EDDI looks great with the new terrain (you can already get it from Terrasync). Only a few offsets needs to be set on objects (pylons showing too high).
