MSLP - El Salvador Intl Airport

Postby JC_SV » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:35 pm

Hello everybody! I decided to share my airport ( from my country El Salvador) , I modeled it a few months ago but it needed some work that I did last weekend so now I'm making it it available . I know that not many user of flighgear are from my country or area but I hope someone is going to find interesting flyng to this part of the world. And maybe someone from Central America will find it and be glad to have it .

Here you have some pictures of the model:

If you want to try it, you can download it from this link

EDITED: updated 19122011 with some minor changes in textures and shaders...

Instructions to install it are already there in the .zip file, but I copied them here:

INSTRUCTIONS :

1. Copy and Paste 1481183.stg file in:
/usr/share/games/flightgear/Scenery/Objects/w090n10/w090n13/1481183.stg ( for Linux users )
or /flightgear/data/Scenery/Objects/w090n10/w090n13/1481183.stg ( for Windows users )

* folder flightgear might be FlightGear in some cases...

2. Copy and Paste folder "AA_MSLP" in:
/usr/share/games/flightgear/models/ ( for Linux users )
or /flightgear/data/models/ ( for Windows users )

* folder flightgear might be FlightGear in some cases...

3. Go to /usr/share/games/flightgear ( flightgear/data for windows users ) and open and edit the file named: preferences.xml, you just have to change the the word "true" for "false" in the next sentence:
<use-custom-scenery-data type="bool">true</use-custom-scenery-data>
for <use-custom-scenery-data type="bool">false</use-custom-scenery-data>

That's it. Next time you select MSLP El Salvador Intl airport you have to see it.

Note: you must have already downloaded and installed the scenery for my country before if you don't want to see only water surrounding you :) ... -->

Let me know if you have problems installing it . . .

Best Regards!!

Nice looking model, congratulations. Are you going to get it included in the official Flightgear scenery?

Of course !!! I'd like to have this airport included in the official Flightgear scenery, but I don't know how . . . Could you ( or anybody) help me with this model getting to the official scenery ?

Thank you! I followed the instructions there and I sumitted all the items required although I'm not sure if I did it right because I wasn't sure with the mail addresses stated there . I'll wait some days to see what happens. But, now, I have a question: Am I supposed to get an answer from anybody after submiting my model ?
If not, I think I'll have to check official scenery files in a week or two.

Seems you're having mostly static model to import. There is no direct webtool for this now, but it's going to come in a few months hopefully.

If you have shared models, please use viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14671 for "small" submissions. Mass imports scripts will come later.

Nice scenery.

Olivier.

Thanks oliver.jacq: Your tool is awesome, I discovered it earlier while I was searching the forum for a way to summit my airport. The only shared models I can recall now are all the aircraft parked and some baggages but without airport model it will be weird to see them there, that's the reason I didn't use your great tool. I hope more tools like yours will come to flightgear!

Thanks for your comments, don't worry, there will soon be the 3D model semi-automated import tool, hopefully before summer 2012. I have for now nearly finished the mass import script (50 lines/submission !).

In fact, you can separate: add the shared model through my tool, and add the static by mail for now, until the new tool is out. I hope the mass import script will be out before 2012, depending of my spare time.

Good luck for your scenery.

Nice job on the models! And even night lighting!

The "better" solution would be to add a groundnet to your airport and populate it with some AI traffic (that is, real taxiing/flying aircraft!). More info at our wiki: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Interactive_Traffic

Thanks Gijs. I read the info at wiki, it's interesting and I think I'm going to try to include that but it will have to wait because I'm working on the cockpit of the A-26-Invader these days.

Thank you El Flauta, I have visited your site many times, it's nice. Your site would be a good place to have my airport since it is in spanish. I might registred there soon, by the moment you can post my stuff there. I'd appreciated it a lot.

By the way I've just update the airport with some minor changes in textures and shader ( and better snapshots ) . Here is the new link:
