I was planning to create a zip, with the official flight documentation, a google earth pic and my pictures. On the google earth pic I was planning to draw marks to show where I took my pictures. But perhaps you already have most information.

By the way, I noticed that the area on top of the runway is a platform that is much wider than the runway and almost level. Much more level than in one of the earlier models of LFLJ. Note I cannot test your latest model until I get home, so I do not know if this has been corrected already.

Also, (when flying into the airport) left of the runway is the heliport, which was actively used when I was there. I took pictures of that too.

And directly behind the platform at the top of the runway, i.e. between the platform and the green mountain wall, is a road that leads around the airport to the hotel/bar/restaurant on the right of the runway.

Under the lower part of the runway, the relatively flat surface, is a tunnel. The road leading up to the airport is leading through the tunnel, curves to the right around the airport and to the tower, then continues behind the airport to the hotel/bar/restaurant.

I have a good mental image of the airport, so please ask when in doubt.
Wow, this runway is indeed steep! :-)

When driving back to the Lyon area, I made a stop to have a look at Chambery, but the airport is not very interesting. The airport of Lyon, Saint Exupery, is almost impossible to photograph, unless you have access to the airfield. I do not.

We are setting up camp near Macon; I will be back early next week.

Hi,
Good And Helping Description!!! The Heliport has already being modelled and is in use in fg....[by loading in HP1 parking position].
Well if u would have tried glazmax model , i havent made any changes to terrain in the model, i only modelled buildings etc.

The road really seems to be important and i will try to model it for sure..
I also wanted to model the ski-resort(if i am not wrong?) which is somewhere below the airport!!

Thanks

I will, but I am not at home. Do not have FG installed on this PC. It is not mine...

It is. In summer it is a nasty village. Just a lot of hotels.

My first set of pics for Courchevel can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/?dugxlgjmnzm

Original dpi, so you can zoom in. Unprocess raw material, but I did not want to keep you guys waiting.

Good luck.

It is a simple country road. Two cars wide with white line in the middle. One lane each way.

To bring this topic back on the track: I created a testing terrain for Courchevel, using only the native terrain mechanisms (no overlay models).

The slope is quite steep:

I hope I'll be able to modify the altitude data accordingly to represent the real runway profile. This is something that needs some more time...
The slope is a problem for YSBSim models. Many weird things are happening for them. The other aircraft work quite well, after some training. :-)

The files are available from the SVN server below.
