ok the "generic" model is done, liveried in the flightgear colours.

If you want the stairs as a moveable "aircraft" similar to the "follow me" or the "jeep"

simply extract the folder from this link and add it direct to your aircraft folder within data file for flightgear.

if you want the stairs to be an object so you can place multiple of them at your fave. airport.

extract the file then take the "models" folder and place this in the Data/scenery/objects folder.

heres the link

http://www.sendspace.com/file/h0afxf

have fun riding round the airport looking out from the top of the stairs

thanks to detlef faber (DFABER) for the help with the .xml files.

what we also could try to do is making the stairs raisableand lowerable - as not all the aircraft are at the same height...

i think i would have to play about with animation in blender to make them do that, i'm still only just learning this so bear with me.

I dont know if its possible to make an .xml file that would do that without the need for animation in the design stage????

maybe someone could advise?

If someone can let me know if they have downloaded it ok?

It is possible, but you can make life (or animation) easier by planning the animations during design.

E.g the front wheels should be seperate objects because you have to rotate them seperate from each other.

Raising and lowering the stairs requires to handle each step and the platform as a seperate object to keep everything plane.

heres a little TODO list about things i thought of. i surely forgot something, so feedback please!

Cockpit
    - movable steering wheel
    - working instruments (fuel gauge, speed, etc...(have a look in the follow me or the jeep perhaps)
Outside
    - movable wheels
    - (perhaps) raisable and lowerable stairs
    - different liveries?
    - position light etc...
Other
    - stronger motor to increase speed?
    - softroof (EDIT : for stairs)
    - windscreen for the driver (just copy the one from the jeep...)

This could be a beginnig, perhaps, later, we can add more...

anyone who wants too, feel free to extract the file from one of the links and have a go at sorting out the animations etc, (all the list above)

to be honest it was a quick model that i didnt give much thought to, but it is the basis for something i suppose.

regards

what we also could do is a "ground support" package - with follow me, pushpack and mobile stairs. and in future perhaps some more else like fuel tanker, bus, luggage transporter and many more...
