Hehe, that's part of the "test": a Manhattan shapefile/terrain ;)
Also note the parks and smoother lines at the islands.

When they're finished :)
I think that might be the case next weekend...

Another shot, this time with OSM data (railroad, motorway, primary, secondary):

Awesome Gijs!! Now I will focus on the NY skyscrapers models project. In your shots Manhattan looks hundred times better that the actual one.

That's exactly the reason I'm doing this! Let's hope more of you decide this is the right time to contribute (again) ;)

Maybe handdrawn...? I can't answer that.
But either way, nice job, Gijs! I've been waiting for the NYC landclass to improve!
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Gijs, looks great, except it appears a bit out of scale. You might want to check the dimensions of that building, but that might be just because it's sits in a bare landscape, and the texture beaneath doesn't help much either :). (dimensions should be 48x97x209 m wxlxh).

Manhattan's a pretty narrow island.. Remember that some buildings in the southern parts of the island take up an entire block -which, of course, you can walk across with ease.
I wouldn't be surprised at that scaling?

Yes I know, and scale after all is an optical illusion :P. But I said that just to be sure.
Afterall threre are some ugly brown apartment buildings in the default autogenerated scenery that are bigger than that building ;), and way out of scale (or they are made for Gulliver and we all live in Lilliput).

Hm, so far I generated the terrain without elevation data. Apparently there was a reason for that, as this is what SRTM-1 gives me:

Looks like they did not take the skyscraper-height into account...
Not sure how to proceed now.
