Hello!
I searched the forums but nothing found...
I am interested in this scenery. I found today a video of landing at Kai Tak, which was done for the contest:



It's written that the scenery was adopted from X-Plane's Kai Tak custom scenery. How can i find it?

Would be cool if someone can contact the author(s) of the X-Plane scenery to ask for permission to release it under the GNU GPL license. So we can include it in our official scenery... :)

I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask, but according to the poster on the X-Plane forum this is actually a conversion of freeware MSF scenery. Done with permission by the X-plane poster of course. So I don't know about getting full permissions on every thing and have it all GPL'd.

Currently I'm writing a script that will autogen animation (night texture) xml's for converted XP scenery. When finished it will not only generate the xml files, but will also update the stg files. It can either batch convert an entire directory or just a specific file. I'm also toying with the idea of adding a "range" option to set the visible distance of the models.

Once I have that finished and I get the KAI TAK scenery cleaned up a bit I'll contact the author(s) about GPLing the scenery.
Unless someone can beat me to it.

There is custom scenery made by Thomas Albrecht. It features scenery objects (checkerboard hill, Kai Tak's terminal, kai tak's strobe lights), osm buildings and roads, and fixed terrain (the terrain in the default scenery around Kai Tak is all wrong). It is pretty nice.

Upon launch everything looks nice however after a while scenery objects disappears,may I know why?I added those texture files to fgroot and graphics was set to minimum

could you be more specific about "after a while" ?
What do you do in the meanwhile ?
taxi / flying away from the objects ?
was the objects out of field of vision, then missing when you looked back ?

that being asked ...
to address your question "why" without further :

1.
in FG menu
View / Adjust LOD details
in upper part of modal window,
one can choose granularity of visible objects based on distance.
Ascertain to have theses slider to have objects in range.

2.
objects may have in their .xml definition file
a range specification

3.
FG use a mechanism to unload from memory unused part of the scenery.

Solution :
User needs add these parameters to the launcher Settings tab :

--prop:/sim/rendering/static-lod/bare=270000
--prop:/sim/rendering/static-lod/rough=9000
--prop:/sim/rendering/static-lod/detailed=3000
--prop:/sim/rendering/static-lod/aimp-bare=10000
--prop:/sim/rendering/static-lod/aimp-detailed=9999

But this workaround works only in FG2020.3.XX, not in FG2020.4

After workaround applied to 2020.3.9 :

Fly high, fly fast - fly Concorde !
