Problems with textures of buildings at night

Postby barryballantines » Sun Jan 21, 2018 3:22 am

Hi all,

some weeks ago I started to build my own airport scenery and it already made some progress.
(You might have a look here: https://github.com/barryballantines/VVN ... umentation )

Some days ago I started to create my first own building model in Blender, which worked surprisingly well... unless I started to add some textures to it.

My problem: The textures are shown very bright, even at night... It seems to me that all the shadowing/dimming effects, I had on my model before I added the texture are gone. So obviously I missed something when adding my textures to the model.

Any hint?

Here my model without textures (at day):

Here the same model with my textures (at evening)

As you can see, the terminal building is bright and illuminated, the tower and the hangar in the background are dark as expected.

Thanks a lot, pb321,

that was exactly what I was looking for!

The emission of the material was set to a non-zero value in the exported .ac file. After setting it to "emis 0 0 0" it worked.
The reason for the incorrect emission value was the option "Mirror col as Emis", which was activated in the AC3D export options in Blender.

Is all about emission values of the object itself, not texture related, except if you have a coded xml file

Make sure to submit Noi Bai to scenemodels.flightgear.org if your buildings are GPL compliant - the airport looks great.
