pushback problem in 787-8

Good sims require good FDMs (the "thing" that makes an aircraft behave like an aircraft).

pushback problem in 787-8

Postby blaster5king » Wed Oct 01, 2014 6:02 pm

Hi guys, I really like to fly the 788 in flightgear on long haul routes but there is a small problem with the pushback, if I press pushback in the aircraft menu I see the pushback screen and the vechile appear. Then I connect the pushback still no problem untill I want to start moving backwards the airplane doesn't move in any direction even when the parking brakes are releasd, I tried reinstalling, downloading from another source,... etc. Please help!

Greetings, blaster5king

First the 787 is VERY heavy, try removing fuel
Second try thrust reversers and throttle
Third why is this in FDM section?

Put throttle to minimum, engage thrust reversers, put throttle to full and release brakes.

Powerback is not really a recommended method for moving an aircraft with engines mounted on low wings. The 787-8 has wheel chocks, which are in place at startup. If you haven't pulled the chocks, the airplane isn't going anywhere. If that doesn't fix it, the problem may be that the amount of force applied by the pushback is too low. This can be corrected in the 787-8-set.xml file by increasing the Kp value under the <pushback> tag.

Boeing 757-200/300 (rename folder to 757-200)
Boeing 767-300/ER (rename folder to 767-300)

I don't know. You'll have to play with it until you find something that works. You can adjust it in-sim through the property browser. Hit the / key, then click sim -> model -> pushback. Adjust kp there. Too high, you'll launch it into the grass. Too low, it won't move. I think it's set to 300 out of the box. If yours isn't, that would be a good start.

Hmmm. Remove all fuel and see if it works.

I had the same problem with 787, but then I found out that I'm using an old version of this aircraft. In the latest 787 version, the pushback problem is fixed. See: https://github.com/FGMEMBERS/787-8
