Sun reflection in shaded area  Topic is solved

An exciting "new" option in FlightGear, that includes reflections, lightmaps, the particle system etc.. A lot is yet to be discovered/implemented!

Sun reflection in shaded area

Noticed this recently (on 'next') so no idea if it is a regression or has always been like that. Look at the attached screenshot, where sun is definitely below mountain range, yet is reflecting on water.

I think it has always been like that. The shaders do not know about the terrain elevation so they use the horizon as a reference.

this is also why we see distant buildings in front of clouds at times...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
