SHADER for enhanced flight vision technology

An exciting "new" option in FlightGear, that includes reflections, lightmaps, the particle system etc.. A lot is yet to be discovered/implemented!

SHADER for enhanced flight vision technology

Postby Kaosiia » Tue Mar 03, 2020 2:09 am

Hello,

I am currently trying to implement shaders. I was told it is what is used to implement the enhanced flight vision systems technology (EFVS). Does anyone know how to do this? or have any more information on this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thank you

You probably want to start with effects, and then look at shaders:

Finally, for anything involving avionics with night vision support, external tail/FLIR cams, you will probably want to look at the canvas/effects related side of things: Synthetic terrain

Gear view in cockpit computer

Basically, these articles/discussions and patches are all about rendering a slave camera to a Canvas based texture, in order to apply arbitrary post-processing effects to the texture before showing it inside the cockpit, using the effects/shader framework.
