On my last airplane trip I was surprised at how the reflection of sunlight on water looks like. If you look at the real life images I've posted you can that the reflection seems to stretch out almost to the horizon even though the sun is not that low (at least 30 degrees). If you look at the FG with the approximately the same sun angle you can see that the reflection doesn't stretch out to the horizon and is much shorter and more localized . Similar to how shadows are long in low sun and shorter as the sun goes up. So I would intuitively assume that the reflection would look encompass a smaller area as in FG but this doesn't seem to be the case. Can someone please explain the mismatch here?
