PCL (Pilot-controlled lighting) ?

An exciting "new" option in FlightGear, that includes reflections, lightmaps, the particle system etc.. A lot is yet to be discovered/implemented!

We've been having a discussion about realism in the scope of the GCA addon that rleibner is currently developing, and I was wondering are there any hooks in place to implement PCL in an airport agnostic fashion - i.e. something that would tell the scenery engine (or effects system) to look up a runway and enable PCL ?

Is it feasible at all ?

Via Nasal space we could provide the airport/runway and corresponding lat/lon coordinates defining the runway, would that help ?
