Baking error in blender, circular referance in texture stack

An exciting "new" option in FlightGear, that includes reflections, lightmaps, the particle system etc.. A lot is yet to be discovered/implemented!

Baking error in blender, circular referance in texture stack

Postby Airbus330 » Sat Apr 02, 2016 12:24 am

Hi every one, Its me again on the A300-600. I am trying to light up the flight deck, but just can't seem to get blender to bake a lightmap. The error i get is "circular referance in texture stack". I am using a blank texture channel. I will attach my .blend file so anyone can take a look.

The Bake function of Blender is very powerful. You can easily bake textures. But you can do easily mistakes. The first thing I saw was this:

You're trying to bake a texture on the same texture. Blender doesn't know what to do.
Anyway, I didn't find a solution for the problem. The only solution that I have, is to create a new material, a new (generated) texture, assign the texture to the mesh and make sure you disable the texture:

As you can see on the picture it works!

Thank you Florian for your time and reply.
I did everything like you said, and it still wont bake. I'm a little puzzled, because everyone from around the web says exactly what you are saying, just the solution wont work for me. Is there something wrong with the way I have the Bake tab set up? I tried with "selected to active" checked and unchecked. I also tried with only one object selected and with multiple objects.
