ALS and texture files

An exciting "new" option in FlightGear, that includes reflections, lightmaps, the particle system etc.. A lot is yet to be discovered/implemented!

ALS and texture files

Considering that ALS is a lighting/visibility rendering system, why are completely different textures used with ALS on and off?

Personally, I like to use ALS, but it seems to render the entire world as a sort of scrub cover.

Any explanations?

But it isn't.

No, only the scrub covered bits.

Experimentation showed that it is the Crop effect that makes the big difference.
