MacBook Pro M1 build

Postby Timi » Fri Mar 26, 2021 1:53 am

Got 2020.4.0 built for a MacBook Pro M1.

But it takes 1/4th of the screen. No matter if it's fullscreen or a window.

I notice that the frame rate is also low, I am afraid that M1 does not work well with Flightgear as it does not divide the workload on multiple processors, but from practically everything with just one... Unfortunately.
This compilation for M1 I was soon hoping to see it to better understand the compatibility issue of M1 with our nice simulator.

For me it was smooth. Way faster than running the x86 build under Rosetta 2.

Were you able to fix the 1/4-of-screen video scaling?

Nope, out of my expertise. I barely was able to get a working build with some help
from this patch here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/flightgear/si ... quests/94/

That fixed simgear. Then I needed to figure out how to get PLIB built correctly.
And fix the flightgear sources in a similar manner than the above patch. The rest
of the dependencies I installed from homebrew.

So I wouldn't know anything about fixing the scaling issue.

And if you contact the service center, will they be able to fix it? I have a similar problem with my MacBook air, but it occurs even when watching movies.

M1 has been showing a lot of shortcomings lately, and I'm already considering buying a powerful laptop for Windows. The only thing that holds me back is that I am an IOS programmer, and it would be strange to write code for Apple on a PC. Usually, I contact mac repair near me with various problems, and the guys help me solve some of the problems that arise. I expected that M1 would be much better than everything before, and most of the problems in work would be resolved, but it turned out that M1 is also very imperfect.
