that's weird... have you changed your dnc options or updated your script lately? mine is still pulling and compiling without problems... but i compile my own plib and osg that simgear and everything following uses...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I downloaded the latest version of "download_and_compile.sh" (2.33), I deleted the old directory fgfs to start from a clean install, but the problem remains.

Obviously unable to compile "SimGear" can not automatically compile Fgfs and all the build process stops.

I just manually updated using git pull, and I get the same error. I tried make clean to see whether the problem would go away by re-compiling everything, but it persisted.

ahhhhhh... looks like that's part of james work on the internal http code... i'm compiling simgear with "-DENABLE_CURL=1" because the internal http was too slow at times on my 3Meg pipe and seemed to get hung... james asked me to try using curl which worked... so now they're looking into the http code... you can try the above definition and see if it gets you back running... when time to disable it, you'll change the '1' (one) to a '0' (zero)...

in the meantime, i've forwarded this to the dev list, too...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

I just tried your (wkitty42) suggestion, but it didn't work unfortunately. Thank you for the quick reply though!

where did you place it and how? i'm using a slightly modified dnc script so it is a little easier for me the way i'm doing it...

please show exactly what you added within code tags...

eg:
Code: Select all
  if [ "$RECONFIGURE" = "y" ]; then
    cd "$CBD"
    mkdir -p build/simgear
    cd "$CBD"/build/simgear
    rm -f CMakeCache.txt
    cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE="$BUILD_TYPE" \
          -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH="$INSTALL_DIR_SIMGEAR" \
          -DCMAKE_PREFIX_PATH="$INSTALL_DIR_OSG;$INSTALL_DIR_OPENRTI" \
          $SG_CMAKEARGS \
          -DENABLE_CURL=1 \
          ../../simgear 2>&1 | tee -a $LOGFILE
  fi

note that the trailing '\' characters are required because the cmake line is one long line split into smaller sections...

in reality, i actually added the define to the SG_CMAKEARGS at the top of the script but forcing it in like shown above is just as easy...

wkitty42, enabling "-DENABLE_CURL=1 \" doesn't work for me.

i /just/ ran another update and now i'm seeing these errors as well :( i don't know why i didn't see them yesterday when i updated after seeing the commit messages in my email...

one good thing, i guess, is that i still have apparently valid binaries from the previous build...

these are my current repo commits for comparison... simgear and fgfs are not building with these because of the errors, though...

I'm compiling the "latest stable" branch, without problems so far. Could someone confirm this is NOT 3.4? Because 3.4 is already on Arch's repos.

EDIT: Cool, there's a file that says 3.6 :)

AFAIK, we're compiling the latest next branch (aka 3.7) from the repos...

Yup. I just tried compiling the "stable" release, just to see if it works.

yeah, stable should continue to work as that should be the last "release"... without looking at the script to see what it sets for the release repo... i used to do release but wanted to do more to give back to the project... i know how to report problems a bugs... i'm quite good at doing that when i find'em ;)

@wkitty42, I added the -DENABLE_CURL=1 in the same place you did, when invoking cmake, so:
Code: Select all
cmake -D CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH="~/FG-install" -DENABLE_CURL=1 ~/fgsrc/simgear
