Git problem with ./download_and_compile.sh

Postby abassign » Sat Mar 07, 2015 5:20 pm

I try tu start the script: ./download_and_compile.sh ALL, normally work well, but from 3 day return this error:

Code: Select all
****************************************
**************** SIMGEAR ***************
****************************************
https://gitlab.com/fg/simgear.git exists already
Si è già su 'next'
Your branch is up-to-date with 'origin/next'.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

This is the GIT clone command:

Code: Select all
git clone https://gitorious.org/fg/simgear.git

If I try, for example, DATA or FGFS, I received a similar error!

If I try with this command:

Code: Select all
./download_and_compile.sh ALL UPDATE

I received a similar error!

I try to clear the directory fgfs, I put in the directory the ./download_and_compile.sh script get by the command:

Code: Select all
wget -O download_and_compile.sh https://www.gitorious.org/fg/fgmeta/raw/next:download_and_compile.sh

I received a similar error! :(

What is the problem ?

Please can you execute the following command and show the result here:

Code: Select all
cd YOUR_FG_DIRECTORY/simgear (that's where you have the simgear's source code)
cat .git/config

gitorius have made a change and git://---- url no longer works.

Solution is simple - change url = git://gitorious.org/fg/simgear.git to url = https://gitorious.org/fg/simgear.git

Do the same for fgdata and flightgear repos.

This line means that you did not fetch simgear with HTTPS://gitorious.org/fg/simgear.git

you need this:
Code: Select all
git remote set-url origin https://gitorious.org/fg/simgear.git

You will have to edit download_and_compile.sh.

Look for all occurrences "git://gitorious.org/fg" and change 'git' to 'https' .

I guess the maintainer of the script will soon update it.

you can just edit the .git/config file and fix those... or you type the given line at the command prompt in each project's directory and use the new url for each... easier to edit each of the .git/config files and just change git:// to https://

version 2.32 of the script is available in the git next branch... it removes plib and ALL now only compiles three projects... the others will compile if they are specified manually on the command line except for FGX, IIRC... it was late last night when i pulled the script and got my FG going again... i forget who told me about the new script version but it was in these forums... however, there was no mention of having to change git:// to https://... this change must have gone into effect pretty quickly after gitorious was acquired... i've been running into the no access problem since that announcement became public...

The change happened a couple of days ago.

It is best to make the change from git:// to https:// in the script as I suggested, and also in all the .git/config files as wkitty42 suggested. That shoul cope with new git clones and with pulls updating existing git copies.

The same applies to those using command line git and tortoise git on windows.

The script has been already update yesterday with this change: https://gitorious.org/fg/fgmeta/commit/ ... 15ba326bb5

However the script do not update the .git/config file, he is not designed for that. it's up to people to update their local clone

However the long awaited Fgdata split has just happened.........

The essential stuff has been moved to Sourceforge, and the aircraft to a repo called FGADDON. You will be pleased to here that Fgdata is now much much smaller.

The maintainers will no doubt be posting notices on the forum soon. Alternatively you can scan the devel email list if you can´t wait.

i haven't joined the dev list (yet) but i have to wonder... after editing the script and fixing up the protocol for each individual local repo, what's gonna happen to my local fgdata (that i spent 3 days pulling down) when i run the script? i guess it is best to just wait for another few days and let all the dust settle before trying to move forward? hopefully someone in the know will keep this topic updated with the details ;)

FWIW: the link above to the 2.32 version of the script is the diff... here's a link to the raw blob which one can view in their browser and then just "save as" to get it down... https://gitorious.org/fg/fgmeta/raw/8f5 ... compile.sh

Nothing

My advice is to rename your fgdata folder/directory to keep it safe, Next clone the new fgdata from sourceforge, and then add in all your private files - keyboard, system.fgfsrc etc etc that are in your old fgdata.

After a while you can delete your old fgdata folder if you wish to clean up disk space.

I think that the developers are more likely to start a new topic on the forum to give their advice, and hopefully they will update the wiki.

really? after they removed the aircraft section?

Alant wrote in Sat Mar 07, 2015 11:19 pm:My advice is to rename your fgdata folder/directory to keep it safe, Next clone the new fgdata from sourceforge,

i had to resort to the torrent to get fgdata the first time... i still have those files and i did see a post earlier today that something to do with fgdata has been updated but there's no layman's terms instructions on what to do to fix up the existing one pulled or torrented... it surely isn't something i want to fight with a second time, if you know what i mean ;)

i don't have anything in there that's been modified... i have copied a couple of aircraft folders out to a personal directory for modification but that's all...

understandable, to be sure :)

yes, definitely an update to the wiki is called for... it took me several searches before i finally found the torrent link stuff... had to follow the bread crumb trail through a few articles but i did finally find it
