How to get fg-data package with GIT ?

Postby Curtis » Sat Oct 18, 2014 8:55 pm

I tried to download fg-data package v3.3.0 in order to test the GIT version of flightgear ( flightgear v3.3 ),

I tried with git :

Code: Select all
git clone git://gitorious.org/fg/fgdata.git

the command starts but it fails after 2 hours, I get this message :

Clonage dans 'fgdata'...
remote: Counting objects: 240229, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (95176/95176), done.
fatal: read error: Connexion ré-initialisée par le correspondant
fatal: fin de fichier prématurée
fatal: index-pack failed

what is the best method if we want to have fgdata v3.3.0 ?

with GIT it doesn't work, it is too slow and after a random time it fails,

why there is no zip/tar.gz file of fgdata v3.3.0, a snapshot to download ?

I had similar download problems also. Try HTTPS protocol: https://gitorious.org/fg/fgdata.git

I tried with :

but it doesn't work :

Clonage dans 'fgdata'...
remote: Counting objects: 240229, done.
error: RPC failed; result=18, HTTP code = 2006)
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fatal: protocol error: bad pack header

it would be great if someone can upload a zip/tar.gz version of fg-data v3.3.0,

because it's very hard ( and for now impossible ) to download this package with git,

I want to test the git version of flightgear 3.3.0 but I need a 3.3.0 version of fg-data

You can download an fgdata Git bundle via a torrent - it supports resumption and it should not fail. It's much more reliable for big downloads.

Click click. You can download a .zip file (1.5 GiB) or clone the repository (2.5 GiB).

I second that, thanks Onox!!

Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me where in general the major version-breaking changes are between fgdata 3.2 and 3.3?

I ask because with this download I will be grabbing onox's fgdata without the aircraft, and then will attempt to snag the minimal necessary aircraft folders from my working 3.2 fgdata that came with the 3.2 release, as well as the bombable aircraft - I assume nothing there should have version breaking upgrades in 3.3?

Also, scenery from terrasync should be fine, right?

My assumption is that the major version breaking changes would be mostly nasal code, but clarification would be welcome.

EDIT: yup, everything works. :-)
