Building FlightGear from source, and in the need for help?

Latest GIT and google perftools

Postby mifi » Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:03 am

I tried to compile the latest GIT version this morning and noticed that for FGFS the Google PerfTools seem to be needed. This must be an update that happened tonight, because I compiled fgfs yesterday with success.

I am getting this error message:

CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:70 (MESSAGE):
Try setting GooglePerfTools_ROOT_DIR to root of your gperftools
installation (missing: GooglePerfTools_LIBRARIES
GooglePerfTools_INCLUDE_DIR)

I am running an older Ubuntu (with download_and_install.sh) and the PerfTools are not installed. The version of the PerfTools in the repositories is not correct and refuses to install.

Do I have to install the PerfTools by hand somehow or is there an option to compile without the PerfTools?

Thanks.

In the mean time I have compiled and installed from source:
libunwind-1.1 (since I am on a 64bit machine)
gperftool-2.0

The default installation puts the libunwind and gperftools libraries in /usr/local/lib.
Fgfs compiles fine now.

All that remains is a run time error:
error while loading shared libraries: libprofiler.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Probably a flag somewhere...

Yup. I added ":/usr/local/lib" to the line in run_fgo.sh that sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

Code: Select all
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$p/plib/lib:$p/OpenSceneGraph/lib:$p/simgear/lib:/usr/local/lib

Fgfs is up and running again.

It is probably better to install gperftools under the fgfs/install directory, instead of using /usr/local/lib. Perhaps I will change that later.
