Compiling GIT on Mac

Hey, i have the current Mac release for Flightgear, and i was wondering, how do you get the GIT working? i know that obviously i need to download more things, but i havent been able to figure out exactly what to do for it, can anyone help me out?

No need to compile anything - just download the (huge) fgdata Git repository, and then grab a nightly build - it contains all the code, just point it at your fgdata clone and you can fly.

I've never heard of downloading the data folder...
