Commuter Plane

Postby Pilot Penguin » Fri Sep 24, 2010 9:13 pm

Hi everyone!

I want (or more like need ) to find a good small jet or prop commuter airplane that I can fly around the San Fransisco Bay area. Does anyone know a good one?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Well, here's a list off the top of my head.

-CRJ-200
-Beech 1900D
-LET 410 TurboLet (I'm not sure it it's still available)
-Yakovlev Yak-40 (a forum search should get it)
-NAMC YS-11 (Note : No Cockpit)

... and that's just about all that I can remember.

Really? They look pretty realistic to me.

The AC3D model has a bug though, the sides of it tend to be dark... so it's like FG is stuck in 1,000 years of darkness or something...

I have the GIT version... I'm sure there's a direct download on the wiki though. ;) [wiki]Bombardier Dash 8[/wiki]

A bit dodgy? Bah! The AP on that thing is a homicidal maniac in AutoPilot form!

Hi everyone!
Thanks for all your help!

Thanks for the link skyop, except that the wiki leads to the forum topic, and on the forum topic there is a download...which doesn't work
I'll go rooting around a bit and see if I can find another link somewhere :)
Oh yeah, my CRJ-900 isn't working very well. It freezes whenever I try to leave the cockpit view :(
Any idea why this is happening?

Cheers!

Likely lag from the livery select. It'll take FlightGear a few seconds to un-freeze, but it won't do that again until you restart the simulator.

Hi skyop!

I don't think the lag is from the livery select, because it doesn't go away after a few seconds. It stays on and never lets up. I really would like to start flying this plane (the model is excellent  )

All help is appreciated.

Cheers!

I know, for me, it lagged for about 30 seconds when I switched to an external view. Is there a chance you're not waiting long enough. You could also just fly without switching views. Not like you could chase your own plane in RL anyway.

Should be improved with the latest version (heck, I'll probably make one tomorrow, since the negative AoA when cruising is fixed), as the textures have been scaled down to more realistic sizes.
