Is there a German forum?

Postby Calico » Sun Jun 06, 2010 2:25 pm

Hi all,

I've been chatting with some of my German friends in Flightgear. It sounds like they want to do some development work. In any case, the were wondering if there's a German forum that they can post questions on. Is there?

Thanks,

Shane

Hmmm..well.

It is dead since a while. A lot of spam, very, very few active users. All former active users are here now in the forum....

It always makes me wonder why people would like to split knowledge over several places in favor of a certain language.
If you can accept that the common denominator of the community is english then you get access to the largest pool of answers. Otherwise you get only a limited subset or, worst case, no answers of all

Well, some people just don't speak English. Or their English is limited to the stuff they learned in school. It really takes a big effort for a German to learn the English aviation vocab because almost everything has a completely unrelated name.

Well, thanks to all of you for the help. I've passed the information on, so now it's up to them to decide to use it or not. Anyhow, thanks!

Here are some examples of spammed-up forums to give you an idea of the current state of the forum:
http://www.flight-gear.de/smf/index.php?board=1.0
http://www.flight-gear.de/smf/index.php?board=2.0
http://www.flight-gear.de/smf/index.php?board=3.0

Yeah... not too pretty right now. The first forum linked to, Allgemeine Diskussionen, has the most spam in it. This is probably what happens when a forum falls into a state of inactivity... :|

I wouldn't recommend registering, not even if you are fully German and can understand the normal conversations between NORMAL, non spambot users, unless you like seeing a site constantly be filled with spam.

Yeah...

I'm taking German 1 this year, and I'm not quite at that level yet. If I talk to them again in the simulator, I'll pass that information on. (if I can translate it:))

Hatte geöffnet. Ist mittlerweile aber wieder geschlossen, wegen 'ner Gesetzesänderung, kann mich grad nur nimmer genau erinnern, welche es war. Es wurden Abmahnungen befürchtet.

The reason, why the german forum closed, was the new DSGVO from the European Union
