Apps for the aircraft in FGFS

Postby FirstOfficerJadenAR » Mon Nov 15, 2021 4:29 pm

Hi, again. I just wanted to know if there is a mobile application for FlightGear. I have seen some applications in other Flight Simulators. Like for XP 11, you can connect it with other aircraft for FMC or something else. So, is there an application we can download in mobile to connect to FGFS?

There's Phi

The A320 also offers an MCDU which you can open in your browser.

This is not strictly an app, but it is a good site for flight planning. It offers output files for msfs 2020, fsx, X-plane 11, FlightGear, and many others as well as PDF format.
http://onlineflightplanner.org It also computes how much fuel is needed. I hope this helps!

Opening a link in browser is a good option because there are similar apps to FGFS but not exactly flightgear. If it is there so I didn't notice that.

So apparently Phi does allow you to "run" Flightgear on a browser in your Android Phone? How about an Android Tablet?

I guess I'm not understanding this too clearly, I have recently had my desktop suffer a GPU card failure. I do have a Android tablet with a multicore processor and built in GPU, it's a bit dated, but it runs PicaSim RC model glider and slope flying simulator better than my gimped desktop does, so anything that can get me back into FG at better than 2 FPS is a win right now.

No, Phi is just a little UI where you can have a map, basic instruments etc...

merspieler is correct... you can use the live view in Phi but the lag between frames is nasty... if 2FPS is bad, 5SPF is certainly much worse... but you can still adjust some things... radio, altimeter, and maybe even yoke and throttle but it is likely by the numbers in the property tree section... certainly not via controller or joystick through the browser at this time...

but this does remind me that GEForce Now does something like this with their cloud gaming stuff... you can use their app or a browser to a link on their site to play (eg: steam, ubisoft, epic, etc) games in your library on any device that can run a browser... for example, you can play "No Man's Sky", "Assassin's Creed: Valhalla", "Control", and other big name games on your phone or tablet... with a controller or joystick if you can get them connected and recognized... you can play those on an older system, too... as long as it can stream the incoming video fast enough... the remote end, where the game is actually running, is running medium to top of the line gear... RTX3080's and similar... it might be possible that Phi can be extended in a similar manner? especially with FG's new video recording capabilities... maybe use that instead of the current screenshot method... hummm
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Depending on your needs Enroute or SDVFR might also be useful to you.
