I wonder what this will mean for future of FG on Mac.

it and the other graphics world changes mean that FG will likely have to change track... Vulcan is an option but i forget if Apple supports it or not... this discussion comes up in the indie game dev forums i participate in... most of them are going to Vulcan in the short to medium term... further than that needs a wait and see attitude to see what Apple and others are going to do...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

This is going to affect a lot of 3d on OSX. The change of status to deprecated gives an uncertain[1] future, however with the OSG folks starting VulkanSceneGraph (which is going to take at least many years) there is a path forwards.

Paraphrasing [2]

If Apple wants to shoot itself in the foot, so be it. So maybe some console warnings on OSX 10.14 when running FG that everyone will ignore. OSX pilots can be grateful to Valve and Khronos for the opensourcing of MoltenVK, so that Vulkan on OSX is probably the most viable path forwards assuming that we transition to VSG by then. If not then OSX pilots pilots will have to learn how to dual boot Linux

If Apple removes OpenGL then there will be no FG on OSX until a viable alternative becomes available.

--------------------
[1] in the sense that we don't know how long it will remain deprecated before it becomes unsupported and/or not availabile.

MoltenVK seems to do a great job at supporting Vulkan on Metal:
