I was thinking maybe I could write a story?

there's tons of free software available for creating animated youtube videos

and I guess any such resource providing a 101 about FlightGear, its origins and its history could actually be pretty useful to introduce newcomers to this weird community of volunteers.

Did we miss the 20 year anniversary of the "new" OpenGL-based version of FlightGear?

seems so, could be another great opportunity to add a corresponding interview to the newslettter - but we should have really prepared a few interesting questions...

there was discussion on the mailing list, IIRC... i know what i read was fairly interesting...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
