New Latin Name For Flightgear

Hi!
I am a Latin Student, and I thought it would be rather fun if we could come up with a Latin name for Flightgear. After some consideration, I decided that we have three options:

1. Use the current name with a Latin ending, which would be something like either Flightgeara, Flightgearus, Flightgearum, Flightgear, Flightgearus, or Flightgeares.
2. Take the to words Flight and Gear, translate those, then translate the Latin into a single word, which would be CalcesPenna, ae.
3. Pig Latin

P.S. Seeing that it had to do with FlightGear's very Name, I thought this would be a good place for it, rather than Hangar Talk.

It's the third of five different noun forms.
If you did the first option, it could be:

Lemme geek out on you

Use a borrowing from Greek*: Logismiko, n. (Latin: Logismicum/-on) "software"
(could also borrow from Esperanto programaro with programarum)

Add a gerund: volando "for flying"

thus: logismicum volandi (liberum) "(free) software for flying"

* In the classical world, most (Roman) citizens could speak both Latin and Greek, and so words often were borrowed between the languages, sometimes with very little change, like atomos, nymphe**, which retain several of their original Greek forms (c.f. atomus, nympha in the regular Latin declensions).

What about, "Apparatus AreaFuga"?

lol, area has more connotations of ground than anything to do with flight. And fuga means more to do with "escape" versus flying an aircraft.

How are you learning latin? I've done two years of Cambridge Latin Course (CLC; a little weird for America, but not too bad ).

I use FG 3.4 ... logis miserium volatilis? Or something like that?

I don't know if latin would attract more people to use FG?

there is a word in modern latin for software: partes programmationis. but "partes programmationis volandi" sounds a bit clumpsy to me.
simulator aeroplani or simulator aeroplanorum (simulator of airplanes)
apparatus volandi
instrumentum volandi

But: the approach to translate "gear" is not useful in my opinion. I think a Roman would have created a name in another way
maybe "ars volandi" could be better: the art of flying

auxilium volandi: help for flying

or even a more emotional phrase like "something that takes us up to the sky" or "fly the skies!"

ascensus ad caelum
ad caela ascensu: to climb up into the skies
porta caeli: door to the sky

or just keep it simple:
volatus: flight
volator: sb who flies, pilot
volare libenter: to fly with joy

all in all I think that "FllightGear" is a good solution. But maybe my suggestions can help others...

If i am right "apparatus volandi" means something like "flying equipment", which matches nicely with "flightgear".
