English link: http://google-opensource.blogspot.com/2 ... -code.html

This isn't good since AFAIK TerraSync scenery is all on Google Code (as there's too much data for GitHub).

interesting times for the FG project, which tends to depend on external infrastructure ...

I suggest donate buttons on the website and on the forum.
here is a service for monthly donations:
https://www.patreon.com/featured?cat=8
https://flattr.com/

50 users times $10/month = $500/month
...thats enough for a Server with 1GBit uplink & unlimited traffic

donations don't generally solve the problem - not even a recurring cash flow does, just look at the traffic flightgear.org is seeing and all the AdSense integrated there, and do the numbers.
Equally, look at other hosted key infrastructure (wiki, forum, build server etc) and you can see for yourself, that maintenance/administration easily becomes the bottleneck

can you try to express "a few" in numeric form? 1 TB? 20? 90? I try to check out possibilities.

it isn't terrasync that's so large... it is all the thousands and thousands of files in terrascenery... just the terrain for the whole of the continental united stated takes 19Gig (272052 files in 13310 directories) on my system... the other sections, airports, ai, models, and objects are maybe another gig... i don't know how much of that size is taken up by the .svn directories, though...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Yeah, okay, the scenery is that big. Alas, without the scenery, TerraSync is pretty pointless. So what are we talking? 5 TB plus one or two extra for growth?
