Anything wrong with FG-Wiki ? Cannot edit anymore

Postby mhab » Mon Aug 12, 2013 3:35 pm

Hello

I had done some small contributions to FG Wiki a few months ago.

Now I wanted e.g. to add a link on the F14 Aircraft page referring to the Livery database for the F14.
I log into the Wiki, do the editing, preview the page, see the link, try it, and everything is fine.
But when I safe the page, the changes are NOT comitted ??!!

I tried it from different machines yesterday and today with the same NULL result.

What I tried to do is the following:
In the section of the aircraft overview I tired to add the line:

Code: Select all
|liverydbid    = 42

Any clue what is wrong with the wiki or my approach to edit it ?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

- What do you see after clicking Save page? Are you redirected to the page you were trying to edit?
- When you test the link, do you open the link in a new window, so you don't have to click the back button to return to the wiki?
- What's the latest date in the recent changes list of the wiki (click the recent changes link in the menu)? This is to make sure you're editing on the right server and not some old closed one (I think it was removed, but just to be sure).
- What if you try to edit another article?

Cheers,
Gijs

Edit: I see you're latest edit dates from 20 July... So this must be a very new issue?

Hello

Thanks Gijs for the helpful remarks.
Now after I checked my "No Script" extension in the browser, and tried again I found it is my own fault ... at least most of it. It is not the browser extension that hindered me, it was a question I need to answer ...

I overlooked the first lines on the page that showed up after I tried to post where it said that "... because I added some new external link I shall answer a question ..." in order to verify that I know what I do.

Well I didn't consider a link to the liveries database to be external for FG, although for the wiki it may be so ...
It would be helpful if this confirmation question would be in red, like the warning that is seen as long as a preview page in the wiki is not committed.

Thanks
Michael

Aha, that's an option I forgot to list :-) I'll see if I can make it stand out more. Please remind me if nothing has changed by the end of this week, got two exams coming that require my attention.
