Looking at this; it looks pretty good. But keep in mind that the real 757 here is in the air so the camera angle is different.

Gear looks bit too short but its not a big proble :) m

Skyop here are some pics of my 757 in x-plane that you will find useful I hope.

Image

Image

Notice how you can see through the wing with full speedbrakes deployed.

Image

Thrust reversers

Image

The nose (hint hint) and nosegear (hint hint)

Image

Here is full left aileron. Notice how the speedbrakes work in tandem with the aileron. You can't see through the wing with full speedbrakes and no flaps however.

Image

Full right aileron. Same deal.

Image

Basically, if the aileron moves x degrees, the speedbrakes moves x degrees.

I resized them for viewing here. Here is the download of a folder with the full resolution pics: http://www.mediafire.com/?w6l6xo6ra5vbz9q

I have no idea if this stuff is already implemented since I cannot fly your plane and probably never will until I get a new comp. Yet this same comp runs the above ^^^^^ at great fps. But don't comment on that I'm going to get into that soon.

I've started cleaning up a few things here and there with the next release right around the corner; simbabeat is working on the overhead panel. Nothing to write home about yet, except the new interactive CDU (thanks Gijs for the 744!).

Don't expect any new releases until FG 2.2 is out.

Two great interactive panel resources:

Click on sections of the panel for descriptions and information.

And as always, http://www.smartcockpit.com/plane/boeing/B757/

Some more work on the overhead panel:

I'll have that glitch with the right fuel gauge fixed.

Here is the download skyop: http://www.mediafire.com/?c7a72u0f7vyyssm In case the forum resized it.

Next up, see if there are another skyop aircraft textures I can enhance.

I was looking at some of Fly4Fun's photos on Flickr (thanks, Simba, for the link), and it just occurred to me. He provides such a wealth of potential sources of textures, that it would almost be madness try using his photos as bases for textures - although they are released under a CC licence. While I leave the choice of whether to implement this or not to you, I think it'd be worth a shot.

In the meantime, I'll go and scour Wikimedia for some potential textures.

I thought about that too tom. My texture above is quite obviously not photorealistic and it would sure be alot better if it was.

Well, the good news is, Fly4Fun has released his photos under an open licence! :D

The bad news is that he's released his photos under a CC-NC licence, which stops any photorealistic version from going into GIT. (which is rather frustrating)

In light of this, I think I'll go ahead and create as many photorealistic textures as I can, and release them as an enhancement for the 757, rather than a part of it. It's not the best way to do it, but it seems to be the only way.

Simba, would you mind terribly if I used your (already good-looking, I might add) panel texture as a base for the Photorealistic one?

Go ahead. Remember it is a mapping however and it has to be kept into the panel lines confines. Also, because of the panel lighting system skyop is using don't put any panel markings on it, just the background and details.

By panel markings, do you mean just letters, numbers and text, or do mean everything but the basic brown background that you posted earlier?

All the texture can have is the brown background, the lines and screws, plus any other details.

I don't know man that doesn't look that great. Either my screws are too big or some of your stuff is too big because there is some overlap. But yes improvement.
