Flying toaster wrote in Thu Jul 16, 2020 3:01 pm:Hello

I have paused development for some time now but the version I have sitting on the hard drive is still a major improvement so I uploaded it for test or simple enjoyment.

Feel free to provide feedback

Note : Still not adapted to compositor, but flight controls should work much better in the transonic region.

Cheers

You will need an extra XML file available in the previous page of this thread if you are using later version (update of JSBSIM)
Flying toaster wrote in Thu Dec 31, 2020 10:30 am:Yep, later versions of JSBSIM have become more picky with uninitialized variables (as they should).
here is a link to an updated file in the main directory to fix the problem

And yes I reference directly the lacquer.eff instead of lacquer-deferred.eff, and this is where I get the result I mention above...

please try to provide enough detail of the problem for someone to actually be able to do anything...

"it doesn't work" is extremely poor... that's like saying "my car won't work"... we don't know
  • if you have checked the battery, cables, and starter (won't turn over),
  • if you have enough fuel in the tank,
  • if the fuel is being transferred (bad fuel pump, kinked fuel line, or plugged fuel filter?),
  • if the fuel is the proper fuel for the vehicle (diesel vs kerosene vs gasoline),
  • etc
we do know this is not a fully working craft based on the previous messages right here in this topic... it may not even be a partially working craft... and let's not forget that lack of eye candy animations doesn't mean the craft doesn't work if the standard sim controls can make the craft do things... especially if the FDM is complete... just because you don't see the flaps or rudder move doesn't mean they aren't moving in the code... seeing them move is part of that eye candy animation stuff... remember, an FDM only craft works great... you just cannot see it on the screen ;)

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Did you copy the f20 common xml file in the post above on the root of your F-20 directory ? The bug is because this value is not initialised in the property tree before JSBSIM initialisation. The xml file fixes that

Yes it fixed the issue or yes you did what I mentioned ?
Other people experiencing the same issue ?

Also it is weird because 2019.2.0 version mentioned in your signature worked without a hitch for me before. Did you upgrade FG recently ?

I fixed the shaders (what a pain in the neck).

The issue now is that it may make the aircraft incompatible with FG prior to 2020.4.

Any recommendation on how to manage two separate branches of the same aircraft ?

Thank you in advance

Enrique

PS: I am not releasing yet, I still need to fix noshadow and spot lights coming from Rembrandt

Heard of Github or Gitlab? Use one of them!

Yeah, I know those :) ... The question is how do you keep the versions compatible with the pre compositor and post compositor releases of Flightgear. I guess for the time being I will keep it as two separate zip files. Hopefully GPL and upload to GIT is coming soon (it's been 10 years now)
