I did a test flight from JC to SFO...

I ntocied that compared to the 777, the speed is much more connected with the flaps. For example if you have the flaps of the 777 down once the speed won't decrease tremendously. But if you do this on the 214 the first flap "drop down" (1 notch) changes the speed from 220 to 200 within seconds. Throughout the rest of my final I was a bit more cautious....As for my touchdown speed it was 130knots, and my throttle was up around 50%+ at that time.

So what do you think about these? :D

I messed up my JC to SFO flight by doing replays.....ummmm......does this help at all? http://fgfs.i-net.hu/modules/fgtracker/ ... ID=2304182

I am on Linux....so i used recordmydesktop program.Probably that is the reason why you always see low fps and clarity on my videos...

I have just uploaded a slightly improved package....feel free to download it now....

PS:Rick Ace, please test it. The current performance seems within the variables and delta of the the TU-214 data i have on hand. This is as realistic i can make it to be, unless there are some much better data out there (not wiki please....for this air caft plenty of info at wiki does not match real life data)

Happy flying

cheers!

I love this - its a plane I always wanted to see in Flightgear and it's been a smooth flight every time for me. The autopilot is frustrating but I'm making it work I guess - once the lnav and vnav buttons work it should be fine.

Thanks

Haha, don't worry about it - this morning's release seems to have fixed it and now it's all good!

I''ve downloaded the new one. xsaint, like always, a great development :)

I taxied to KSJC's 30L where I rotated perfectly around 150-160. The plane perfectly took a angle, (there were no angle warnings this time) and cruised at 250 at 2,000ft, I fixed my heading manually and engaged the AP again to cruise until I was near KSFO. AP was disengaged flying at 1500ft, and descent was 170knots. The flaps came down nicely, and the speed was controllable. Touch down was just a few under 130knots :) (I was able to pass a 777 that was at the start of the runway :P )

Great Flight :D I can definitely see the difference from last time. The flaps did not take away from control from the throttle. Flaring was much better as well. Very nice aircraft. I think it's even much better than the 777  I now have a new favorite aircraft xD

I looked over, and realize many people call this a "Russian 757"... Perhaps (in your very busy schedule) can you make changes to this, to make a 757? I think this aircraft could have brought us a major step closer to a great 757. It's up to you. But it was a idea I got.

Hello Rick,

It is good to know that you like the TU-214 and it performs even better then before....

Yes i have seen the term "Russian 757" used on TU214. Usually these remarks are based on physical appearance...some Boeing lovers claim it was copied from 757 and Airbus lovers will claim it was copied from A320.Since aerodynamic principles are the same for everyone, i do not know how different the Russian have to produce a aircraft...Maybe they should consider having the cockpit in the rear and the rudder in front...maybe that will make them say "Its Russian Tu214!"...lol

I understand that Boeing 757 is already being developed for FG. Though from a distance , both 757 and Tu214 may look the same, in fact they are not. From external wing designs, TU214's wings are designed differently....the angle is diff, thickness and so on is actually different from 757. The FDM of 757 and TU214 can never be the same for both are different aircraft with diff performance and characters.

I am sure the 757 will come good in FG with time. In the mean time, i am working on Sukhoi Superjet ... This is gonna be a slow and long process i guess since i do not have much time now adays....

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback and enjoy flying the Tupolev 214 captain....

I know your time is limited and I very much want to see the SSJ released for Flightgear as well, but I do have a request for the Tu 214 - is it possible that some future release could include an Air Koryo livery? Then we can "legally" fly an Air Koryo plane in Europe :D

For liveries, it's probably best you try out GIMP or Photoshop....xsaint might proably want to do it, but still, liveries, are quite easy to make.

I Don´t know where we will take all of this, but I assure you it will be fun. (Orville Wright, 1903).

I have tried before....it was absolutely baffling to me, and I could not find a tutorial that would clear things up for me and don't have enough experience with 3D art to understand what needs to be done. One day I hope I do.

And it doesn't matter who does it, I'd just love to see more paints for this plane! it would make me a happy fan indeed <3
