New 787 modification!

Postby air_alex » Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:43 pm

Hi all!
This is new 787 modification: http://rapidshare.com/files/85484825/78 ... f.tgz.html
Modifications:
1) Flight directors work right.
2) Added navigation display modes (not real, but very useful).
3) on EICAS display added reversers indication.
4) Added autopilot mode indication on PFD.
Attention! Route mode now switch with LNAV button. VNAV button still switch glideslope mode of autopilot. Correct switching of APPROACH mode is with APPR button.
Enjoy and write here your opinion and founded errors.
Regards, AirAlex

Hey, nobody needs it or everybody test it? I don't see any reaction...

Alex,

The best route may be to contact the original author and coordinate your efforts with him. I'm sure his efforts are ongoing, and he may not read this forum.

Best regards,

Curt.

Alex:
I am impressed with your modifications. I never could figure out how to correct the autopilot. I think your changes should be comitted to CVS.
I have noticed that you have excluded dme.xml in the center-panel.xml file. If the relevant hot buttons are not wanted, then the corresponding objects in the cp.ac file (dmeface, dmebezel_0, and DMEswitch) should be removed. Thank you for your interest in improving the 787 model.
I would eventually would like to correct the general layout of the flightdeck http://www.news.com/2300-11397_3-6186726-9.html?tag=ne.gall.pg and add provisions for engine cutoff & startup, but I will be fairly busy with college courses and work.

Hey, Picture 8 in that sequence looks a lot like FG!

(Notice the side panel screen with the controls...)

Thanks! I think we have to coordinate our work and synchronize our versions. Now I realize correct lateral navigation in autopilot and test it...
We must do anything with engines! They eat very lot of fuel. On long route for 5000 miles I "refuelling" (via menu of FG) 3 times! It's not correct AFAIK.

While developing lateral navigation I found an interesting thing... Indicated ground speed in GPS calculating without speed-up time correction. So I can't use it for turn distance calculating and calculate ground speed manually with using of wind parameters and error-model od airspeed indicator. Is it a bug?

In 787/787.xml, there are two references to engine tsfc being 0.419. If those values were lowered, the range would be increased. Try 0.05. The property instrumentation/gps/indicated-ground-speed-kt becomes much greater than velocities/groundspeed-kt, while sim/speed-up is greater than 1. I believe that this is a flightgear bug and not a 787-specific bug. You might want to use velocities/groundspeed-kt until the bug is fixed.

TSFC = Fuel in lbs per hour used / Thrust

Assuming cruise speed 900kmh, max range 14000km, fuel capacity 33528 us gallons: that would give max range in hours as 15hr, 2235 us gallons per hour or 13410 lb per hr. Thrust given in the xml is 75000 for 2 jets each.

Try using TSFC around 0.089375 for each jet.
