Simple question - i will be trying to model a MiG-23MF, as we know, this is a variable-wing geometry aircraft. How should i do the wings? As a separate models?
I will be working in Blender.

I will be working in Blender.

Separate from the fuselage - yes, in a separate .ac file - at will.

Look at Tornado or the f14b how they did it.

What 3D model to use in modeling very textured aircrafts?
I'm new to basically everything.

I got lots of questions to ask.

Any modeling program you wish. Just so long as you can eventually get in .ac format.

Please remember that a 3D model is only really ~10% of what goes into an aircraft. Theres also the cockpit, making the cockpit functional, animations, Flight Dynamics (or, FDM), sounds, then there's using nasal and XML to implement fuel systems, etc etc.

Cheers,
Sam.

I created a tutorial for another flight sim YSFLIGHT

https://sites.google.com/site/ysflightp ... ngeha/home

It is a tutorial for Wings 3D: see what you can pick up. Please let me know if there are any problems with the link or the tutorial.

Maybe I will do one for FG. As far as YSFLIGHT, they have now developed scripts for Blender and create aircraft directly without editing text files.

I encountered a problem about aircraft models, which occurs on Linux (and maybe Mac too?).
Linux is case sensitive about file paths. But not all models have correct cases in their xml files. It cost me some time to figure out what was wrong...
(eg. here: http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18441).
I think this should be mentioned and stressed somewhere in the basic tutorials (if it's not already), as it can cause serious trouble and missing effects and parts of the model, or in the worse case, misbehaving FDM.

Get my L-159 ALCA from the FGUK hangar. If you crash it, things gonna go boom!

of patience, a little bit of talent, the passion, good tools (GNU/Linux, Blender, Gimp :)), and lots and lots of trials.

Many links to tutorials are present at the beginning of this discussion, for example.

Hello everyone! I'm quite new to the FG community, not so much in flying and using the sim, but in creating aircraft. I have started working on a MiG-21UM, the two seater trainer version of the MiG-21, and I based the model off of Petar Jedvaj's MiG-21bis. I have finished the actual 3D modelling in Google Sketchup, however my lack of experience, this being my first aircraft, has stopped me at the stage of coding and generally continuing after the modelling stage. What is the next step, or what am I to do next in order to make a fully functional aircraft, based off the existing MiG-21bis?

Thank you in advance :) :) :)
