Yeah, well, Matrix just didn't come into my mind, and my problem is, that many people are on Discord, not Matrix, and I'd require them to make a Matrix account just for this then. Whereas if I do it on both, then the potential communications will be split and scattered between the two, as there will always be people who prefer the one and some who prefer the other.

Oh well, now that I looked into it, it was pretty easy to sync the Matrix and Discord channels with a bot (t2bot.io) ! :) So here is the link to the Matrix room for the C310 - I'll make a wiki and add the link there too: https://matrix.to/#/!fEOTalzMFXdlqnGjUM:matrix.org

doesn't make it better... you're still encouraging the use of proprietary data kraken scum... have you really read the ToS before using it? I assume not, else you wouldn't use that.

Also... "no one uses $something"... no one did use shitcord in the beginning either. We need to make that step together!

Without bein an expert on this, but uploading to github could call for trauble.

Even if I find these online suppliers of manuals etc. a bit dubious. Original copyright is with Cessna, isn't it? S I am not sure, if selling pdfs of it is ok for them.

Just FYI, I'm still around, but haven't worked on this for a while. My real job has just been keeping me so busy lately, I haven't had time or motivation to work on it.

Well, you already did a great job ! :) What you did would have taken me at least a month if not longer … So, when you got some time and motivation, just let me know - the panel is rather empty right now, you know ! ;)

Gear is now fully animated ! :) I just need to figure out how to model the gear actuators without modelling all the parts of it (it is a really complex mechanism !)

Added NAV lights (have to be switched on from Menu -> Equipment -> Light switches for now) - visible light shine on the ground and aircraft only works on next due to the compositor lights being used !

Added the left retractable landing light (standard equipment) - can only be switched on and extended from the property browser for now (/sim/model/lights/landing) - but look how nice this aircraft already looks ! :)

@TheEagle, do you still need me to work on landing gear loaded and unloaded? And do I need to do the texturing still? It looks great by the way.

Well, I needed to partly redo the landing gear - you actually used too few vertices ! Also there was tons of intersecting geometry - does AC3D have an Intersect / Boolean tool ? In any case, the landing gear is done apart from the actuators, which I will do sometime in the future (the 310 has a really complicated gear mechanism).
What we need is … instruments ! :) But before you start on those, please do take a look at those of my C210 (https://github.com/TheFGFSEagle/c210-family) so that you get an idea of how to do them ! ;) Most important:
  • The bigger instruments are modelled with 8 cm diameter, smaller ones with 5.7 cm. (following the standard FAA specs)
  • Model the glass as a separate object with one face
  • No markings or font in the 3D model - those will be done with the texture
  • important - the vertices must be placed so that the front glass is at X=0, to make it easier to place them correctly in the cockpit ! Knobs etc. may of course protude forward.
My usual procedure (in Blender) is to add a circle rotated by 90° around the Y axis, inset it by 0.5 cm, duplicate the inner face and set the copy aside for the glass, then extrude the original inner face backward 1 cm.

As for texturing, not yet - but I've already started on placing the seams for UV-unwrapping ! :) But for now, I want to do some FDM things first - working on a basic fuel system right now ! You'll need Inkscape for any texturing - I need to have an SVG version of the texture so that I can move things around / change in size in case I have to change the UV map-
