what's the right way of dealing with this? talking with them didn't help... file a complaint at sf to remove the repo?

I am currently filing an abuse report at Sourceforge. I'm sorry for all who are enthousiastic about this project, but violating the gpl license touches the core of FlightGear and how it has grown so far, so I have the opinion that we cannot let that happen. Franck, I remain available to talk about this, but at this point you have crossed a red line. We should not allow such behaviour within our project.

Maybe rather make it private than delete it ? Deleting it is irreversible, hiding from the public not !

when i first started using git, no... i did all my editing and updating in the UI provided by the online git repo stuff... i forget if it was gitlab or github but it was also just documentation for a package so no compiling of anything was needed...

a quick head up to SP-NTX and other "enforcers" of this pretended deletion of the the GPL notice.

and verify that, actually,
the COPYING.txt / LICENSING.info or other text file is already missing

the very version that have been the start point to Franck ...

Continuing to accuse Franck to have ***removed the GPL*** notice is nothing but toxic.

I am sure any "friend" of the project ( 777 and FG ) would not opt to walk this way down.

Plus, I had a few talks with Franck, in French, and I can assure he have
- zero wish to hide the good work done by others
- no intentions to break the GPL line.

However,
I can assure you that this kind of hostile attitudes are perfectly able to scare away prodigious creators that have shown a so good will.

FG have many other creations / files where the GPL notice is missing.
This already have been matter of conversations in between developers,
and while the problem have started to be addressed, it still demand a few retouches.

Blaming Franck should stop, now !
